Episode 2: a car wash, a soaked shirt and dessert first

Episode 2 is a comedy built almost entirely from innuendo. You find Mona washing your car, and when you ask what she is doing, she says she is making sure not to miss a single spot, and that once she is finished you can drive her somewhere quiet, just the two of you. The hills, maybe. It is a shameless pitch, and Darkangel arrives to torpedo it: do not fall for it, ignore her, she is only jealous because Darkangel thought of the car wash first.

Mona keeps scrubbing one spot, a very difficult spot, she says. Then your shirt gets soaked, and Mona calls it a totally unforeseeable tragedy. Darkangel steps in and pulls you inside to help choose tonight's outfit. You ask where she is going. Depends, she says, on where you are taking her. The two women trade jabs about whether you are busy, Mona ends up outside, and Darkangel hurries you along before she kicks the window in.

Darkangel then proposes forgetting the outfits entirely, and she suggests food. Tonight? you ask. No, right now. Actually, dessert first. Her parting shot is to ask you to tell Mona that she has already ordered in. That is a good last line for a heat-1 episode, because it implies everything and shows nothing.

What works and what is missing

The charm of the free pair is the rivalry, and it does not need skin to work. Both women are loud, competitive and honest about their intentions, and neither pretends to be subtle.
