Chloe calls from the house. Dinner is ten minutes away. Riley tells you, in the calmest voice of the whole series, to give her five. The episode is brief and it stops on that instruction, with you standing between a birthday dinner and a shower you were warned about.

The structure is what I like most. Four rules in episode 1, one command in episode 2, and each rule lands harder because the one before it sounded harmless. By rule three you are already imagining the garden shower, and by rule four you realize the host has been steering you there since the key handover.

It also helps that the setting is so contained. There is a doorway, a path to the outdoor shower and a staircase with your girlfriend at the top of it. Nothing else is needed, and the series wastes no seconds on anything else.

How far does Our Host Is Riley Reid go after episode 2?
