The subtitles never name an act, yet the moans, the commands and the "do not break" warning add up to sex already underway when the picture cuts.

Episode 2: the morning after, with the court watching

Daylight brings the audience. Courtiers ask who this human is, in the tone people use for a stain on a tablecloth. Somebody threatens to burn a peasant's house down, family inside, as the price of touching what belongs to the queen. The subtitle track leaves it vague whether that threat targets Ethan or somebody else, and I refuse to guess for you.

The scene that matters is the private one. Alone with her, Ethan says what he has noticed: in front of the court he is nothing to her, though the night before she was his.
